Floral Design Sake Sets

The floral design is one of the most common in Japanese pottery design. Floral designs are one of the first seen on Sake sets. Flowers have many meanings and a strong connection to Japanese culture, it makes sense that flowers are a central theme. The use of floral patterns allow you to convey thoughts and feelings to you guests without ever saying a word to them.

Hanakotoba is the language of the flowers in japan. This practice gives meaning to plants via codes and passwords. The colors of the varying flowers is connected to the emotions and actions; we often see this in the form of red roses being connected to love. Nearly every plant and color has a connected emotion or action. The presence of thorns as well as the height of the plant can also represent further meaning. Again with the roses, often those presented are long stemmed to represent a long love and the thorns have been removed showing that the love should not cause any pain.
