This is the highest-grade Western-type knife, using Uddeholm's special alloy steel in Sweden, featuring crisp sharpness for cutting food.

Unusually for a traditional Japanese knife design, the Sakai Takayuki Grand Chef SP Type I uses special alloy steel from the company of Uddeholm in Sweden. This company has existed since 1670, but it has a history stretched back over a thousand years and has lead the world in precision steel products for all of those long years. The low amounts of sulfur and phosphorus makes this steel the best quality that can be found in the world. That is exactly why the Grand Chef Knife series uses this kind of steel, and why the incredible sharpness and corrosion resistance is so highly sought after.

The dimple blade style is used on one side to reduce friction, make the cutting completely effortless. The very rare and exotic Arizona Desert Ironwood has been chosen for the handle, which gives it a balanced weight the gorgeous grain makes it very desirable for knife handles.
