Sakai Kikumori master artisans have to go through years of training before they are ready to create Hongasumi knives by hand. Their incredible skill means that these Hongasumi knives are amazingly sought after, as their craftsmanship and their skill cannot be beaten. Blue Steel #1 is formed from iron, and delicate and intricate ‘mist’ patterns are created on the metal. The many forging and polishing processes create a strong and powerful knife. To complete the Blue Steel knives, traditional magnolia wood handles are created in the true Japanese style, with water buffalo horn as a bolster.
Kamagata Usuba Knife
The Kamagata Usuba is a traditional Japanese knife used to cut or make thin sheets of vegetables. Unlike the Kanto version of the usuba, the kamagata usuba has a pointed tip, which allows for more delicate work. Origin: Kansai region of Japan. Originated in Kansai (Osaka) region.
